Patronage

Maŋnyɛ Klo Dodue is the Patron of GaDangme Cultural Arts including: Bead-making, Kente-weaving, and Drum-carving; as well as Ancestral Embroidery, Iron Welding and Bronze Sculpture.  In contemporary society, these skills are termed "cultural arts" however, in ancient GaDangme culture, artistic ability and professional trade were not mutually exclusive, and these professions were at the center of the GaDangme cultural economy.  What fueled this ancient economy was the principal "Anunyam Gbɔmɔ;" to become a "glorious person," one who is seen as honorable and respected for the work of their hands.  Maŋnyɛ Klo Dodue champions the artistic craft behind ancient GaDangme professions - that have now become modern cultural arts - and it is her aim to not only preserve the ancient technology of GaDangme, but to also create advanced technology that transforms cultural art into a viable profession.  Maŋnyɛ Klo Dodue's vision is one where the products, goods and services of GaDangme, are digitized and exchanged on a technological scale, and the principle of Anunyam Gbɔmɔ returns to the spirit of work.

As patron, Maŋnyɛ Klo Dodue also safeguards the cultural arts, by highlighting them as specialized gifts of GaDangme lineage; in this capacity she transliterates the essence of sacred artifacts, and ensures their symbolism is transferred to modern replicas.  Maŋnyɛ Klo Dodue is an intermediary between the spirit of the artifact, and the artisan who has been gifted with its craft; her role is to translate the message of the artifact, for the time in which it is produced.
